Is it YOUR time to shine??

Is it YOUR time to shine??

As I sit here typing my 11 year old daughter is taking a new dance class. The girls she is in class with have taken dance for years, it is obvious. Not her. She took one year in Pre-K and decided basketball was more her thing. A few years ago, she started telling her dad and me that she wanted to take dance. After blowing her off for as long as we could we finally caved, and here we are. I don’t think I have ever been prouder of my daughter than in this moment, even when she made a game winning shot in basketball. Why? Because she is trying something totally different, out of her comfort zone. She is being very brave and courageous as she steps out and tries something that is not coming easy to her. It is so beautiful! I hope she never loses this courage. She told me the other day, while I was rebounding for her while she was practicing basketball that she only gets to live once. She said she realized that if she doesn’t try dance now there is a possibility she could die without knowing if she would have enjoyed it, and that would be sad.

This may sound familiar to you, even as an adult. Have you ever wondered about competing in the fitness industry? Have you ever desired to do it, but just kept pushing that desire aside? Every time you feel that tug on your heart do you begin to rationalize why you can’t or shouldn’t dare try and compete? You might think you’re too old, too out of shape, or that you don’t have enough time, or money. The list could go on and on. That was me – for years. I wanted to compete, but I had no idea how to go about doing it, or if I even could do it. I wish I would have figured out sooner what my 11 year old knows: you only live once, and if you don’t try you will never know what might occur. I wish I would have realized how much I would regret not going for it sooner. I’m just so glad that I did finally go for it! I would have missed out on so much personal growth, an amazing sense of accomplishment, blessings, and strength. It has been worth every sacrifice I made every time I competed.

The journey is not easy though. I felt just like my daughter in her dance class the first time I went to a posing class. I wanted to be a fitness competitor. I loved working out, and I wanted to be as healthy and look as good as the women on stage. I had no idea how to pose though. I thought it would be no biggie. I was wrong! The other girls looked like they had been posing and positioning their bodies out of the womb. I looked and felt like a fish out of water. It was a very difficult for me. I persevered through my embarrassment and the process has all been worth it all. You might feel like you are in a foreign land when you go to the gym. You might not know anything about nutrition. Do not let that stop you! These are the reasons the TwinFitness Elite Coaching Coaches exist – to help with the entire process. We educate you on nutrition and what to do at the gym. We take care of preparing you for the stage and we prepare you mentally throughout the entire preparation process! We have the whole show covered!
